Terrence O’Neil Frierson AKA ( T-Bone )

First of all, I would like to give all thanks to God.

I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan in 1962. I began my musical journey at Barber Middle School in Highland Park MI, while playing drums at age five. I started playing, singing, and traveling with Rev. James Marks & the Voices of Heaven of Detroit, Michigan.

After graduating from Highland Park High School, I joined the United States Army and served from 1980-1984. After my military experience, I relocated to Minneapolis, MN. January 4th, 1985 to fulfill my dreams of traveling worldwide with the international recording group and Grammy Award-Winning “Sounds of Blackness.”

Discover My Journey So Far

I became a member of The Sounds of Blackness on January 4th, 1985. In 1991, the album “The Evolution of Gospel,” produced by Jimmy Jam Harris & Terry Lewis from Perspective Records & A&M Records, brought me international fame with the hit single “Optimistic” as my debut professional recording. Despite being a current member, I aim to excel as a solo artist.

My GodMother Ann Nesby

Being on the same path as Ann Nesby we bounced back and forth on stage touring different places; her being one of the featured lead singers alongside me as a Member of The Sounds Of Blackness we spiraled to a successful career.

After joining The Sounds of Blackness, we rehearsed and began performing at various venues. In 1991, Perspective Records signed the group, leading to a national tour across the United States dubbed “The Power Of Love Tour Ft. Sinbad, Lisa Fischer & The Sounds of Blackness.” Our first Grammy win marked the beginning of international tours in locations such as Africa, Japan, Switzerland, Jamaica, London, and numerous other exciting global destinations.

I vividly recall my initial encounter with Ziggy Marley backstage in Jamaica during a Bob Marley Festival. As we performed together at various shows, realizing his lineage as the son of the legendary Bob Marley filled me with deep honor. Sharing the stage with someone closely connected to his iconic father was truly remarkable.

Abdul

At the SAG Astra Royalty Convention held at the White House, musicians from all levels – local, international, and national – gathered to discuss royalty matters. It was during this event that he had the opportunity to meet Abdul.

Working With Terry Lewis

Terry [tbone] and Terry connection back in the day in The Power of Love Luther Vandross tour wrote composed and produced multiple songs, and while being around him Janet Jackson encouraged jam and Lewis to sign sounds of blackness.

Stevie Wonder

T-bone once saw Stevie Wonder playing bongos in Paisley Park and later ended up connecting with him in his journey with Stevie Wonder, they became part of the sounds of blackness and produced “Conversation Peace” and became great friends,

What’s Next During My Journey

Following my graduation from F.I.R.S.T. Institute in Orlando, Florida on June 5th, 2024, I will be relocating to my hometown of Detroit, Michigan. During this period, I will be unveiling my new singles “Hallelujah Put Cha Hands Up” and “Together We Stand.” Over the next seven years, I have mapped out a plan to release seven radio-friendly tracks and produce an anthology documentary that delves into my passion for music, detailing my journey in the industry alongside my experiences in the U.S. Army.

As I transition back to my hometown, I prioritize the establishment of robust relationships with sponsors. Along with valuable exposure opportunities, my strategy includes featuring sponsorships in promotional materials, on my website, and recognizing their support during podcasts or other media appearances.
